WOCB and WXCB Go Digital

At 9:00 PM on May 4 2009, the board of directors of the Central Ohio Association of Christian Broadcasters had a very special live program to say good by to analogue on WOCB and WXCB.  David Aiken , president of the COACB told all in attendance and watching that the stations had to flash cut to digital meaning that the analogue equipment was being shut down for ever. Once the switch is made the analogue license is gone forever.  There can be no going back for any reason. David then told viewers how to reprogram their TV sets and converter boxes. The board all agreed that we were ready for the switch so after prayer  power was shut off to the WOCB and WXCB transmitters. and the digital transmitter was switched on.  It was mass confusion for a few minutes because the air monitors had to be changed over to digital which takes about 20 minutes.

Viewers also had to reprogram their TVs and converters.  After 5 minutes some had completed the task and the calls started coming in with reports that we were on the air and looked beautiful on the . 1 channel, the .2 channel, the .3 channel and the .4 channel.  The Board started to rejoice because the converter boxes at the station were still being reprogrammed.

On May 6, after a number of minor problems, WXCB was up and looking beautiful in Delaware.
